DNI and passport appointments (as of October 15, 2026)

The Embassy’s notice on the Sistema Nacional de Turnos tells Argentine citizens living in its consular jurisdiction that DNI and passport appointments for 2026 are requested exclusively online through that system, from the Servicios Consulares section of its site (Documento Nacional de Identidad (DNI) y Pasaporte), which lists six booking options.

What the Embassy’s own site says (checked October 16, 2026)

  • DNI change of address fee: the DNI change-of-address page lists the cost as USD 15, payable at the consular section by debit or credit card plus a 3.25% bank processing fee («comisión bancaria en concepto de adicional por procesamiento de 3,25%») (checked October 17, 2026).
  • Physical impediment to biometrics: the official guides for passports and DNI change of address state that in case of any physical impediment to biometric capture (fingerprints and photo), a medical certificate or document proving the circumstance must be presented (checked October 17, 2026).
  • Foreign documentation requirement: the passport guide states that any foreign documents not issued by Argentine authorities must be duly legalized or apostilled with Spanish translation where applicable (checked October 17, 2026).

  • Who can apply for a passport here: Argentine citizens living in this consular jurisdiction. “El trámite es personal y presencial con turno previo” (in person, with a prior appointment).
  • Passport documents: a valid, current DNI with an address in the jurisdiction, and the previous passport (or a local police loss report if it was lost). Minors: the original Argentine birth record (“NO CERTIFICADO DE NACIMIENTO”) and both parents, or the absent parent’s specific authorization expressly covering both the application and collection, with applicable legalization and/or translation. A legal representative must present valid ID and the document establishing that role. If a parent has died, present the death certificate.
  • Passport fee: USD 165, paid at the office by debit or credit card, plus a 3,25% bank processing surcharge. Validity: 10 years for those over 18, 5 years for minors.
  • Booking: DNI and passport appointments are requested exclusively online through the Sistema Nacional de Turnos (SNT). One appointment per person in a family; “La solicitud y asignación de turnos es GRATUITA”. If you miss an appointment without cancelling it, you may be blocked from a new booking.
  • Not available here: Express or “Al Instante” passports; these are processed only in Argentina.
  • Previous documents: from the start of the procedure, the previous passport (and DNI, if also renewed) lose validity.
  • DNI pickup: the DNI is printed in Argentina and reaches the Consular Section in approximately 4 to 6 weeks; the holder picks it up with an ID document and the receipt handed out on the appointment day.
