How appointments work at this consulate (as of October 15, 2026)

The consulate’s hours page, read October 15, 2026, says:

  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. without a break, except holidays (in effect since Tuesday, September 8, 2026). The document-pickup office is open Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.; bring a Colombian ID (cédula or contraseña).
  • Booking: at agendamientomiami.cancilleria.gov.co. The calendar opens every business day at 10:00 a.m. for the next business day. You need a phone, tablet or computer with a camera, because the system uses facial recognition. An earlier version of this page advised booking two to four weeks ahead; that advice did not match this office’s rules and was removed.
  • Do not go without an appointment. Entry is allowed no more than 20 minutes before your appointment. Proof-of-life (supervivencia) and document pickup still need no appointment.
  • Payment: debit or credit card only.
  • Visas: handled online only, through the Foreign Ministry’s visa system.
  • Emergency line: 305-239-5399 (the consulate’s contact page).

What the consulate’s own site says (checked October 16, 2026)

Additional requirements in the Miami office guide (checked October 16, 2026):

  • Cédula photo and pickup: the guide says the photo is taken at the consulate and to bring dark clothing that covers the shoulders; a personal email address is required, and the contraseña is required to collect the new cédula. Unclaimed cédulas are destroyed after one year.
  • Duplicate cédula: the cédula number is required; the guide lists digital 76,28 USD and yellow physical 67,55 USD.
  • Marriage registration: original foreign marriage certificate with its apostille and official translation if applicable; IDs of the spouses; and a copy of the Colombian spouse’s birth record with notes, issued less than 3 months earlier.

These facts come from the consulate’s hours page, which includes its “Guía Oficial de Trámites, Requisitos y Tarifas (2026)” (version dated July 6, 2026):

  • How to pay: debit or credit card only, by card terminal at the office, “salvo excepciones indicadas” (except where the guide says otherwise). Copies of existing civil-registry records are requested by email, and the consulate sends an online payment link.
  • Booking is free. The consulate tells applicants not to use intermediaries; an appointment is cancelled if one is used. Appointments are personal and non-transferable, and only the person who booked is served.
  • At the appointment: show the confirmation message on your phone, together with the requirements for the procedure.
  • Valid ID: the guide calls the yellow cédula with holograms and the digital physical cédula “los únicos documentos válidos para realizar trámites”, but its procedure entries add alternatives: an adult passport accepts the “Cédula de ciudadanía original o contraseña vigente”, and powers of attorney and signature recognition accept a “Cédula o pasaporte vigente”.
  • Unclaimed passports: a passport not collected within six months of issuance is cancelled and returned to Colombia. You need your original valid cédula to collect it.
  • Remaining “Sábados Consulares 2026”: October 24, November 7 and December 5. The page lists these dates without hours.
  • Remaining 2026 closures: November 11, November 26–27 and December 25.
