The Government of Mexico operates 51 consulates and 1 Embassy consular section in the United States as of 2026 — the largest consular network of any foreign government in the U.S. The network spans 30 states and Puerto Rico, with the largest mission (Los Angeles) serving over 4 million Mexican nationals. All 51 consulates are administered by the Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores (SRE) via the Centro de Información y Asistencia a Mexicanos (CIAM) at 1-(424) 309-0009. Common services issued include the Mexican passport (HE-11), the matrícula consular (accepted as ID in 22 states and at most US banks for ITIN account opening), and dual-nationality registration for US-born children of Mexican parents.
