Returning to Honduras from the US: voluntary return assistance from SRECI
Honduras’s Secretariat of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (SRECI) lists voluntary return («Retorno voluntario») among the services of its Office for the Protection of Honduran Migrants (OPROHM): «Retorno asistido o independiente al país de origen, basado en la decisión voluntaria de la persona que retorna» (assisted or independent return to the country of origin, based on the voluntary decision of the person returning). SRECI says the assistance covers, among others, cases of calamity, unaccompanied children, people living on the street, and sick people, and lists an immediate-assistance line for Hondurans abroad: +504 3221-7309 (checked October 17, 2026).
This page describes what the government of Honduras publishes about returning to Honduras; it does not describe or give guidance on US immigration proceedings.

What SRECI’s protection office does
SRECI’s page says the Subsecretaría de Estado en Asuntos Consulares y Migratorios directs its work to «la protección integral de los hondureños en movilidad humana y sus familias» (the comprehensive protection of Hondurans in human mobility and their families). It also says: «La Oficina de Protección al Hondureño Migrante (OPROHM) brinda asistencia y protección a hondureños en el exterior, especialmente a personas en situación de vulnerabilidad» (OPROHM provides assistance and protection to Hondurans abroad, especially people in vulnerable situations).
Under «RETORNOS VOLUNTARIOS», the page says the assistance «contempla, entre otros, los siguientes casos» (covers, among others, the following cases):
- Cases of calamity.
- Unaccompanied children.
- People living on the street.
- Sick people.
Children and trafficking victims
Two other services on the same page involve a return to Honduras:
- Protection of migrant children. «Atención inmediata a niñas, niños y adolescentes (NNA) migrantes hondureños, especialmente no acompañados» (immediate attention to Honduran migrant children and adolescents, especially unaccompanied ones), to avoid risks to their physical and emotional integrity and their life «durante el retorno y la reunificación» (during return and reunification). SRECI says it supports their families and seeks to have their reception in Honduras carried out by staff specialized in child and adolescent protection.
- Victims of human trafficking. SRECI says it follows the case of a trafficking victim abroad and handles the return, in coordination with the corresponding authorities for their reception.
The same page lists humanitarian economic aid for Hondurans in extreme vulnerability due to crises, conflicts, natural disasters or social exclusion (food, health and medicine, protection and transport, shelter and other humanitarian needs). It does not say whether that aid is tied to a return.
What the page does not publish
SRECI’s protection page, checked October 17, 2026, does not list a fee, required documents, an application form or a processing time for voluntary return, and does not name a US consulate for this service. For the details of a specific case, contact SRECI at the numbers above or a Honduran consulate; see Honduras consulates in the US.
