Appointment wait times for US visa interviews at the consulates Hispanic families actually use — Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Peru, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Argentina, Cuba routing, and Venezuela routing — parsed from the State Department’s global report.

What’s in each row

Per post and visa category: the current published wait (in days), the post city, and special routing notes where a country’s visa services are handled by another post (Cuba and Venezuela cases).

Method

We retrieve the State Department report, extract the covered posts, validate the shape, and replace this file only when validation passes. The State Department serves the report behind a bot challenge that blocks unattended fetching, so retrieval is an attended step rather than a scheduled job; the scraped_on date in _meta records when it last ran. Routing notes for closed or limited posts are verified manually against embassy announcements and re-checked when the tracker flags a change.

The State Department’s published estimate of how long a new applicant waits for the next available visa-interview appointment at each post, by visa category (visitor, student, worker, and interview-waiver where offered). They are estimates and change frequently — always check the current figure before planning.

How current is this dataset?

We re-pull the State Department’s global wait-times report and update this file whenever the source publishes a new edition — the source updates irregularly, roughly weekly to monthly. Every file carries two dates in its _meta block: source_updated (the date the State Department stamped its report) and scraped_on (the date we retrieved it).

Can I reuse this data?

Yes, with attribution to MigrantUSA and a link to this page. The source figures are public State Department data; this file adds the Latin America scope, post-level normalization, and a stable schema with dated retrieval metadata.
