How to find someone held here

The ICE Online Detainee Locator System is the ICE lookup resource. The Sheriff’s website links the Walton County inmate inquiry. As of October 23, 2026, the Sheriff’s pages do not say whether ICE detainees appear in it. The Sheriff’s contact page lists (850) 892-8196 for the jail and jail@waltonso.org for commissary, inmate communication services, warrants and jail operations questions.

Visiting

The Sheriff’s calling and visiting page lists onsite video visits 7 days a week: 8:00 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. CST and 1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. CST. Visits take place at tablet video stations in the lobby. For remote video visitation questions, the page lists (866) 516-0115, option 2.

The inmate handbook says contact visits are not allowed except in extremely rare cases with prior approval from the Director or designee.

Money, phone calls and mail

Deposits. The Sheriff’s deposit page lists WWW.COMMISSARYDEPOSIT.COM for funds for bonds, commissary and phone accounts, and states that a deposit fee applies. Its instructions say to select “Walton County Jail” and enter the inmate ID number or last name, choosing the inmate from the dropdown list.

Calls. The Sheriff’s calling page identifies GettingOut by Telmate as the communications service. Identity verification is required before communicating with inmates, and only inmates may initiate phone calls. A voicemail of up to 3 minutes may be left at 1-866-516-0115, option 4.

Legal mail. The same page says legal mail goes directly to the facility and must be marked “Legal Mail” or it will be returned to the sender:

Walton County Jail
40 Sheriff Circle
DeFuniak Springs, FL 32433

Personal mail. The page gives a separate address:

Walton County Jail, Florida
Inmate Name, Inmate Booking Number
PO Box 247
Phoenix, Maryland 21131

The handbook says regular mail is processed electronically; after approval, inmates can view it on their tablets.

Oversight and inspections

The 2026 ODO report covers June 24 to July 23, 2026, including an onsite visit on July 21, 2026. It applied USMS Federal Performance Based Detention Standards (FPBDS) (May 2025). ODO found no deficiencies during this inspection.

General information, not legal advice. Deposit, visiting, phone and mail arrangements are set by the facility operator and its vendors and can change at any time; details above were checked against the cited local source texts and ICE’s published documents on October 23, 2026. The jail’s own current instructions take precedence over this page. For a specific case, contact a licensed immigration attorney or a BIA-accredited representative.
