How this site takes I-94 correction requests
The directory’s instruction for San Antonio reads:
The Deferred Inspection Office is on the Lower Level (Baggage Claim Level) in Terminal A
The same directory entry lists the address as 9800 Airport Blvd., Terminal 1, Room 1103; CBP’s port page for San Antonio, Texas - 5507 lists 9800 Airport Blvd, Suite 1101. CBP’s directory adds, for all sites: “Travelers are encouraged to contact sites not located within an international airport to establish an appointment, if necessary. In many instances, the location of your final destination where the discrepancy will be resolved may not be the port of your first arrival into the United States.” The same CBP directory says “Mail-in procedures are generally not available.”
What a deferred inspection site corrects, and what it does not
CBP’s directory describes the two things these sites do (checked October 25, 2026):
- Scheduled deferred inspections. “Deferred inspections are used when an immediate decision concerning the immigration status of an arriving traveler cannot be made at the port of entry due to a lack of documentation. On a case-by-case basis, the port of entry may schedule the traveler to report to a Deferred Inspection Site at a future date in order to present the necessary documentation and/or information.”
- Errors on arrival documents. Site staff “review and issue the necessary documents to remedy errors recorded on arrival documents issued at the time of entry to the United States relating to improper non-immigrant classification, inaccurate biographical information or incorrect period of admission, if appropriate.”
- Not handled here. “The Deferred Inspection Sites will only correct errors made at the time of entry. You must contact U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) if you wish to: replace a lost, stolen, or mutilated Crewman’s Landing Permit, CBP Form I-95; apply to extend your stay in the United States; or, change your immigration status.”
A lost, stolen or mutilated I-94, or one that needs replacing because of a USCIS error, goes through Form I-102 with USCIS, not a deferred inspection site; USCIS says not to file Form I-102 when CBP issued the I-94 with incorrect information, and that a traveler admitted at an air or sea port with an electronic I-94 gets a paper copy or replacement from CBP’s I-94 website instead; the I-94 record page explains the split.
