You are responsible for knowing your hearing date — the court does not call to remind you.

Immigration judges and remote-hearing links

If you miss your hearing

Missing an immigration court hearing is serious. The judge can order you removed in absentia under INA § 240(b)(5)(A) — a deportation order issued without you present. If this happens you may file a Motion to Reopen, but the deadlines are strict. Always keep your address current with the court using Form EOIR-33/IC so you actually receive your notices.

You are not given a free attorney

The Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) publishes a List of Pro Bono Legal Service Providers. The edition we read on October 20, 2026 is marked Updated October 2026 and lists the providers below under the heading Annandale Immigration Court (Annandale, Virginia).
